Hugs for Valentines Day
January 25, 2013 in Blog, Crafty-DiY, Toddler Crafts
Being a military family we live pretty far from our families. My daughter doesn’t get to see her cousins, aunts, uncles, or grandparents very often. It’s a little sad but it goes along with being in the military. So we made hugs for the family that’s far away and since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner this works for both. This was a super easy and way cute craft.
Supplies: fun colored paper, scissors, ribbon, glue, paint or stamp pad [I forgot to include the ribbon and glue in the photo]
I set out with the intentions of using the stamp pads I bought before my daughter was born. But in the end I decided on paint. My daughters hand was to big for the ink pad so rolling paint on worked out much easier. Plus she thought it was pretty cool. We made several hugs so I did all of her right hand at once, cleaned it and then did all of her left hand and cleaned it.
Let the paint [or ink] dry then cut the hands out. Then you’ll connect the hands with ribbon. You can do this as long or as short as you’d like. I measured the ribbon to be the length of my daughters arm span. On the back of the hands I wrote my daughters name on one and on the other I wrote “Hugs from California.”
My daughter thought they were pretty cool! I do too! Hope the families back home like their hugs from California!

Your daughter is adorable! Thanks for comments on my blog. My mother says there should always be a wreath on the front door, so I’ve been making wreaths a lot lately.
Thank you! I think she’s quite cute
I need to make some wreaths! I’m adding it to my To Do list.
AWWW!! I love that idea! So cute.
This is adorable and such a good idea! Would be awesome for deployed parents too!
This a very cute project to do with the little ones! Love it!
